Went to a Gurgaon mall for the first time in my life yesterday; most exciting. Watched fat aunties and their fat kids eating fattening food, and bought this book which is a collection of the first 10-11 Batman comics. Excellent stuff, full of old-world charm. Batman (The Bat-man, I mean) kills people and fights off his first few super-opponents – Doctor Death, the mad Monk and Boss Zucco, and falls for his first femme fatale, a burglar named The Cat, who made him forget his fiancee Julia for a bit. Also got to see Robin, Alfred and the Joker make their first appearances. My favourite was this one where Batman foils a fake conspiracy to steal a ruby statue of Kila, the Hindu God of Destruction, beating up mobsters, turban-toting Hindu henchmen and a fake Chinese triad boss in the process.
