Seth on Edge

I dont normally gush about people I’ve met, especially writers , but after I interviewed Leila Seth at the Seth house in Noida (for a Telegraph magazine cover story when On Balance was launched) I remember calling my sister and telling her I wished they would adopt me. That entire family is just so impressive, and so nice and warm and gentle and friendly (there, that’s the gush, but will keep it down) and I had the most wonderful time at their place. The one person in that family I haven’t spoken to (apart from a hello) is, predictably, their most famous member, the best Indian writer there is as far as I’m concerned and a man who also inspires these emotions in the breasts of his fans and interviewers. I remember having a chance to meet him properly but running away, because I was scared I would say something stupid.
But meeting me or em was one thing, meeting my former colleague, the inimitable Sheela Reddy, was clearly another.

SR: I am not trying to provoke you but..

Vikram: No, but you are succeeding. (Leila laughs uproariously).

Do read.
His launch is on the 20th, and Im really looking forward to it.

Oh, please, that interview by Sheela Reddy is a joke. Who is she? Never heard of her before. How did she get to interview a big writer like Vikram Seth?

Have been eyeing Ms.Seth’s AB for a while – however, your comment on wanting them to adopt you got me hitting the stores. Quite a read, thank you.
