One night at the call centre – the launch – was duly attended yesterday. Note to bookbuyers – it’s a good idea to go book-hunting before a launch, because you will find many books you like. Repeated V.Seth pre-launch shopping spree success, found the third part of the Bartimaeus trilogy and the only Sin City book I didnt have.
Good launch. TV crews everywhere, huge piles of books (it’s surprising they had any left, I hear insane sales have happened already) which, Chetan revealed, were arranged exactly the way they had been last time, with, I think, a Ganpati image duly placed on top, all in front of a large life-size picture of Chetan looking benign and wearing a black T-shirt. Reading went off smoothly, with the one jarring aspect being an audience member who pointed out, with unerring accuracy, that the piece Chetan had read was not set in a call centre.
One can only feel lucky he hadnt noticed it was also daytime in the book when the events read out took place.
