I am emphatically not an SRK fan and could only tolerate him in Swades and Chak De India. I went in with extremely low expectations and possibly for that reason found it better than (off the top of my head) these Hollywood blockbusters: Lara Croft, Iron Man-2, Matrix sequels, and even Spiderman.

I had the same feeling when i was watching this stupid film. The problem at the grass root level, as you rightly pointed out is the interference of the producers and other influential people who want to make the film a cash cow. Probably, the first draft of the script might have had a bit sense, bt after the interference and subsequent drafts of he scripts must have reduced the logic and added the formula for success. And, Ra.one succeeds at box office.

Another problem i have with not just bollywood but with whole Indian film industry is they never try to experiment with complicated themes or new ideas. Take for example – terminator movies or matrix trilogy, u could see that these movies do try to innovate and tackle new themes, But for many ” different” Indian movies- for example endhiraan ( or robot) – instead of tackling themes like artifical intelligence impact on society etc , all we get is how the robot helps Aishwaraya Rai with her exams ,and other local mudane stuffs. Of course , there was a part where the robot develops emotions , but that was not developed very well.

Anyway i end my incoherent babbling . But i do wish Indian movies will learn to experiment with new themes and ideas.
